This is America, not some third world country. What is this world coming to, when it takes foreign monitors to ensure a fair election in the U.S.A.? It really makes me wonder. We are supposed to have the greatest democracy on earth, but not anymore. Ever since the election scandal in the Florida elections, America has lost confidence in the voting process. There is no such thing as a fair election, anymore. The fact is that as elections approach irregularities and new scandals are reported every day.

Now, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the largest regional organization in the world with 55 participating nations, will monitor the U.S. election on Nov. 2. Members include Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain and the United States.

One of the OSCE’s closest partners is the United Nations. Co-operation was inititated in 1992, when the participating States declared the OSCE (at that time CSCE) to be “a regional arrangement in the sense of Chapter VIII of the Charter of the United Nations”. A Framework for Co-operation and Co-ordination between the United Nations Secretariat and the CSCE was agreed upon in May 1993. The United Nations gave the CSCE observer status at the UN in the same year. Source OSCE

Read what Betsy Pisik of The Washington Times has to say about the OSCE and what will happen in November at the voting booth.

Foreign monitors to observe U.S. elections: By Betsy Pisik

“A 55-nation body charged with overseeing fair elections and human rights in its member states expects to send as many as 100 monitors to observe the U.S. elections on Nov. 2, saying numerous “weaknesses and vulnerabilities” might delay the outcome or even compromise the results.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) explained its decision to send teams of professional foreign observers to the United States to watch the voting, saying irregularities with Diebold voting machines and procedures could jeopardize public confidence.

Although the State Department formally invited the OSCE to observe, its decision has touched a raw nerve within the Bush administration and in some congressional offices.

“Maybe they need a Florida vacation,” sneered one senior administration official, who said the State Department had no choice but to invite the OSCE monitors after it received complaints from a dozen Democratic lawmakers.’ ”

Another article was published on this too. It was written by Gaurav Ghose of United Press International (UPI).

OSCE election-monitoring team arrives: By Gaurav Ghose

Washington, DC, Oct. 7 (UPI) — “International observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe arrived in Washington Thursday in preparation of their first-ever observation mission to monitor the U.S. presidential elections.

Thanking the U.S. government for inviting the OSCE, delegation head Barbara Haering, who is a Swiss member of parliament and also the vice president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, said that “the aim of the observation mission is to give a balanced picture of the election process in the United States.”

And it is no wonder that we need outside aid monitoring our elections with what is going on already. There are scandalous actions already taking part on behalf of the GOP. Voter registrations of democrats are being destroyed.

According to CBSNews.com Chief Political Writer David Paul Kuhn

“Officials in Oregon have launched a criminal investigation after receiving numerous complaints that a Republican-affiliated group was destroying registration forms filed by Democratic voters statewide, Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury told CBSNews.com”

“Meanwhile, CBS affiliate KLAS-TV is reporting accusations of similar malfeasance in Nevada.”

“Both state’s allegations are linked to a Phoenix political consulting firm called Sproul & Associates run by Nathan Sproul, former head of the Arizona Republican Party. Sproul & Associates has received nearly $500,000 from the Republican National Committee this election cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.” Click here to read the article

And there are other scandals as well.

Pentagon – Bush military records destroyed (Seattle Times 07-09-04) “Military payroll records that could more fully document President Bush’s whereabouts during his service in the Texas Air National Guard were inadvertently destroyed, according to the Pentagon.

In a letter responding to a freedom of information request by The Associated Press, the Defense Department said that microfilm containing the pertinent National Guard payroll records was damaged and could not be salvaged. The damaged material included payroll records for the first quarter of 1969 and the third quarter of 1972.

President Bush’s payroll records for those two quarters were among the records destroyed, wrote C.Y. Talbott, of the Pentagon’s Freedom of Information and Security Review section. “Searches for back-up paper copies of the missing records were unsuccessful.” Click here to read the article

I was checking the out the voter fraud on the part of the the Republican party, when I ran into more scandals of Bush’s (his service records being destroyed). I guess it just goes to show you how scandalous this present administration really is. We probably will have another election like the Florida debacle all over again. Some people don’t want 4 more years of the tyrant George Bush, and more freedoms taken away like his infamous “Patriot Act” aimed at scaring people into submission, for his “Police State.” He claimed we needed it to protect us from terrorism, and instead trampled on our 4th amendment rights.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. The 4th amendment to the Constitution.

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”
–William Pitt– (1759-1806)

He not only ran roughshod over the constitution, but now for the second time in 4 years he is trying to trample the voters, by turning the election process into a joke. Is it any wonder that we need international monitors to protect us from tyranny?
