Kristoffer “Kris” Kristofferson is a legendary American country music singer, songwriter and actor. He is best known for hits such as “Me and Bobby McGee”, “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down”, and “Help Me Make It Through the Night”. He is also a political activist. Kris released a music video about how he feels about George Bush, and the way Bush is handling the world today. The video “In The News” has reached #18 on Neil Young’s Living With War Today. In my opinion, Kris’s video is a form of art as a political statement. See the video and judge for yourself. Is art political? How does it affect you, and the way you feel about the world today?

I don’t think art is necessarily political, it’s just art. That’s not to say it can’t make people think about politics. Art is open to interpretation, and we all transpose our personal views and beliefs into the art we see and hear. It’s a great song, but using it with the video forces people to think it only means one thing. Anti Bush. Which is fine, but it just makes the art seem a little forced. I’d rather hear the music without the video, and mix my own feelings with it. It’s more personal that way.
Megapixels: You said, “It’s a great song, but using it with the video forces people to think it only means one thing. Anti Bush. I’d rather hear the music without the video, and mix my own feelings with it. It’s more personal that way.”
I see your point of view, BUT it is like I said, “Kris is a political activist. Kris released a music video about how he feels about George Bush, and the way Bush is handling the world today.” It is his words, his music, his lyrics, his thoughts and emotions, and his own video,
This is Kris’s personal expression. He wants you to think his music is anti-Bush because it is. He meant it that way. He is fed up with the world today, and fed up with George Bush.
If you take his video and separate it from his song aren’t you forcing your personal desires on him?
Isn’t art also about personal expression of the artist?
I think that this video is only Kris’s political expression. I like it. It’s art. And of course I appreciate it cause it’s anti-Bush… :coolio: Very good!
Thank you smallstar. I like the video too, a lot. It makes me sad :aww: But I like it.
Has my comment been showed alone? I don’t believe my eyes!
Testing, again! :(
Hello my darling!
WoW *flabbergasted* I liked what he sang. Makes a clear statment.
Most politicians have a lack of tru taste for art and heritage. Plus remove god out of the equation and you have todays average politician.
Now i know there are dam fine politicians who really do their job well in a world that make it hard for them to do so without being over criticized.
I think i speak for well over 80% of the country that we feel things are going in a direction of no return from hell. All the stuff our elders have been teaching us of the things to come , we are starting to see them and have been for quite some time now, but who is willing to stand up against the machine? It takes art as a way to inject it into them, without it they label us terrorist for simply not agreeing to their ways. The allow drugs into the counrty on putpose and them make sure they have the laws to cover us when we break them. They are the tru definition of evil.
If all politicians were good ole boys liek kris and jonny cash and willy nelson, the world would love america. It does not take a good leader to be a good politician, it takes a good person with high morel and love for everyone.
The one thing that seperates aour world form the the nliveing of the past is globally dominated corporations. They are in the business of makeing money at the expence of removing art and free will of the worker (slaves). Pay them so to be legal, but make sure the cost of living is never queall to the wages so they have to work forever. It poeple to dollars input and profit maximization, and its killing the world. I woudl prefer toi live in an indian tribe with no internet no modern day life than the world we were given.
I wonder what Krissy thinks of Obama……..
